11/12/2024

Indiana, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today the winter plans for the corridor improvement project on Route 68 in Butler and Connoquenessing Townships in Butler County.

With the approach of winter, there will be temporary conditions in place through spring 2025 for the roadway and traffic signals. The following intersections along Route 68 will have a left turning lane in place: Brandywine Boulevard, Kreis Road/Eagle Mill Road, Whitestown Road, and Meridian/Benbrook Road. The left turn lanes are currently in place but additional signs will be added to guide motorists.

Also, between the intersections of Route 68 with Double Road/Stevensen Road and Meridian Road/South Benbrook Road a center turning lane is in place with double yellow lines on each side of this lane. Motorists should follow traffic laws by yielding to oncoming traffic.

This three-year project includes signal replacements, turn lane installation and corridor improvements to enhance safety and reduce congestion along PA 68. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College, PA is the contractor for this $18.7 million project which is estimated to be completed in November 2025.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
