Amata Welcomes $11,500 in Mental Health Services Health Block Grant

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata is welcoming notice on Monday of a federal grant of $11,553 for mental health services in American Samoa through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This is a new grant awarded for two years.

"Thank you especially to Motusa Nua for his dedicated work on this grant to enhance our capacity to support mental health services in American Samoa," said Aumua Amata. "These funds will significantly bolster our efforts to provide comprehensive mental health support for both adults with serious mental illnesses and children with serious emotional disturbances."

The Community Mental Health Services Block Grant program, administered by the Center for Mental Health Services, will aid in implementing plans to improve mental health services and support for individuals with diagnosable behavioral, mental, or emotional conditions.
