Santa Ana Council Unanimously Appoints Next City Manager; Long-Time Santa Ana Resident to Lead the Municipal Organization

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana City Council is pleased to announce the unanimous appointment of long-time Santa Ana resident and tenured local government executive Alvaro Nuñez as the next City Manager of Santa Ana.

Mr. Nuñez, who has been serving as the Acting City Manager as of March 25, joined the City of Santa Ana team in 1993. With over 30 years of service to Santa Ana, Mr. Nuñez has held leadership positions in the Planning and Building Agency and the City Manager's Office. With extensive knowledge of municipal operations, he has helped shape the City through the preparation and implementation of holistic programming and policy, enhancing the quality of life for the Santa Ana community. He has a proven track record of leading interagency teams to effectively address high priority initiatives and achieve complex City Council driven goals.

Mr. Nuñez has been an active member of numerous organizations and associations including his service as Santa Ana Management Association (SAMA) President, Statewide Board Member for the California Association of Code Enforcement Officers, and a Board Member of the Latino Youth Leadership Institute.

Mr. Nuñez holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine, and completed coursework for a Master's Degree in Public Policy & Administration / Chicano Studies from California State University, Long Beach with plans to realize completion.
