Tiffin University will celebrate international students during the 33rd Annual International Flag Ceremony Wednesday, November 20 at 11 a.m. The event is part of International Education Week (IEW) and will take place in the Osceola Theatre in the Gillmor Student Center. The public is invited to attend.
Tiffin University has 202 international campus-based students, hailing from 42 countries outside the United States. Haiti, Iraq and Vietnam will be represented at the Flag Ceremony for the first time.
"The International Flag Ceremony is a powerful reminder of the diverse global community we have at TU, showcasing the many countries our students call home," said Javier Solorzano Parada, Assistant Vice President for Intercultural and Community Engagement and Title IX Coordinator at Tiffin University. "This celebration is not just about highlighting national identities - it's about honoring the rich cultural perspectives, experiences and traditions that each student brings to our campus. By celebrating this diversity, we affirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and empowered," he continued. "For me, as someone who was born outside of the U.S., this ceremony holds personal meaning. It fills me with pride to support our students in sharing their heritage and culture, and it perfectly aligns with our mission to embrace cultural uniqueness and create a welcoming space for all."
