Eight programs hailed for top assessment efforts

Washington State University recently recognized eight programs from four colleges system-wide for their exceptional assessment projects, which have led to revised undergraduate curricula, instruction, assignments, and/or faculty and teaching assistant development.

Hosts of the Nov. 5 event were the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President, the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Achievement, and the Office of Assessment for Curriculum Effectiveness (ACE).

ACE selects top programs typically every two years. The 2024 set is the fourth group to be recognized since 2017.

The newest programs were selected because, over the past two years, they collected and reviewed data from direct measures of student learning collected near the end of the curriculum, used this evidence to guide curriculum or instruction decisions, and engaged faculty in the decision-making or implementation.

"We appreciate the work that faculty and leadership do every day at WSU to support effective program assessment," Brown said.
