City of New Orleans To Host 2025 Budget Citywide Town Hall Meeting Series

NEW ORLEANS - The City of New Orleans today announced the start of preparations for the 2025 Fiscal Year Budget process to include a series of Citywide Town Hall meetings.

The upcoming meetings will offer residents an opportunity to engage directly with City leadership on the proposed fiscal plans for the upcoming year. Two sessions are scheduled to include an in-person meeting and a virtual session to ensure broad accessibility and participation. All residents are encouraged to visit the City Budget Websitefor information on how to submit questions and comments and to learn how to attend the meetings.

The in-person meeting will be held on Monday, July 22 at the University of New Orleans (UNO) University Center in the Senator Ted Hickey Ballroom (room 203), located at 2000 Alumni Dr. Free parking is available on-site.

The City will host a Resource Fair featuring service departments and local agencies from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. to engage residents and assist with any questions or concerns. The Town Hall will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will feature a presentation on the City's 2024 accomplishments and challenges, and a question-and-answer session to solicit input from attendees on how to allocate funding for the 2025 fiscal year.

A virtual session led by City leadership will be held on Wednesday, July 24 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A Zoom link is located on the City Budget Website. City department heads will participate in both meetings, which will be moderated by Kelder Summers-Jones.

The City's 2025 budget priorities include investing in initiatives that view public safety through the lens of community health and wellness, allocating funds to repair, enhance and modernize critical infrastructure and funding programs and services aimed at improving the quality of life for all residents. Additionally, the 2025 budget will prioritize strategies that foster long-term economic growth and prosperity for future generations, as well as policies to ensure transparency, accountability and inclusivity in City government.

These Town Halls serve as platforms for residents to learn about and provide input on the fiscal initiatives designed to shape the future of New Orleans. All residents are encouraged to attend and take an active role in the discussion.
