Traffic Advisory: Roadway Patching on Poydras Street between Loyola Avenue and Convention Center Boulevard

NEW ORLEANS - The City of New Orleans announced today that starting Monday, July 15, 2024 at 7 a.m., the Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor Hard Rock Construction, LLC will initiate lane closures on Poydras Street between Loyola Avenue and Convention Center Boulevard.

This closure is necessary to facilitate roadway patching work and is expected to last approximately three weeks. Public safety is top priority; signage and traffic control measures, such as barrels and fencing, will be onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians.

During this period, crews will work on up to two blocks at a time. To minimize disruptions, work will occur in the lake bound lanes during morning rush hour and in the river bound lanes during evening rush hour.

Following the completion of patching work, crews will begin the next phase of work along Poydras Street from Loyola Avenue to Convention Center Boulevard which includes mill and overlay operations. All work along this stretch is slated to be completed before the end of the year, water permitting.
