University of California Board of Regents Chair Janet Reilly and UC President Michael V. Drake, M.D., welcomed Gov. Gavin Newsom's appointment of Robert "Bob" Myers to UC's governing board and released the following statement today (Nov. 21):

"It is an honor to welcome Bob Myers to the Board of Regents. Mr. Myers' strategic and business acumen, combined with his impressive background in sports leadership, affords him invaluable insights that will help the University of California navigate the changing landscape of college athletics and continue its commitment to excellence in academics and sports. We are confident that Mr. Myers' close ties to the University and the strong relationships he has cultivated throughout the state make him an ideal advocate for furthering the University's teaching, research and public service mission."
