Now open for community voting is SXSW EDU, an annual event promoting innovation in education-and New America's Education Policy program needs your support to participate.

Listed below are details-and direct links-for each of our panel proposals submitted for your review, feedback, and vote.

  • A New Generation of Public Interest Technologists. Our build4good initiative matches and mentors a diversity of STEM students with internships in mission-driven nonprofits. To support these future leaders developing tomorrow's socially minded tech, vote here.
  • Bolstering the Educator Workforce with Micro-credentials. Our PreK-12 program area identifies and analyzes promising practices in the field, like new micro-credentialing strategies that improve school culture and staff retention. To learn how systems can ensure educators have access to high-quality professional offerings, vote here.
  • What is Youth Apprenticeship? (And Why Should I Care?) Our Partnership to Advance Youth Apprenticeship (PAYA) project supports states and cities as they open opportunities for high school students and young adults across communities. To hear about the benefits of work-based learning from apprentices currently in the field, vote here.

Similarly, Iris Palmer, our director for community colleges, will spotlight how work-based learning improves economic mobility for students on a panel organized by Whiteboard Advisors, a consulting firm working to advance educational equity.

  • To support her as part of the Learning While Earning session, vote here.

Lastly, Lisa Guernsey, our senior fellow and strategic advisor, will explore new ideas about the future of education technology and application of artificial intelligence in early learning along with leaders from Sesame Workshop, the educational nonprofit behind America's beloved Sesame Street television series.

  • To support her as part of the AI Tools to Support Literacy & Computational Thinking session, vote here.

Please cast your votes by Sunday, August 18, 2024 to help us share our insights with those attending this special event next spring in the Lone Star State!

And thank you for supporting our work to improve education outcomes so that every student shines bright and meets their full potential.
