Sam McDonald Park Trail Closures

On Monday, September 16, work begins on a project to enhance public safety by maintaining already existing fuel breaks and shaded fuel breaks along a 4.3-mile network of fire roads in Sam McDonald Park. Trails will be closed in two areas of the park on weekdays only from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Monday, September 16 through Monday, September 30

• Towne Fire Road - trail markers 35-27
• East Brook Trail - trail markers 36-28
• Trail near the Hiker's Hut area - trail markers 31-30
• Heritage Grove Trail - trail markers 30-25

Tuesday, October 1 through Friday, November 1

• Towne Fire Road - trail markers 27-16
• Ridge Fire Road - trail markers 26-6
• Big Tree Trail (all)

These trails will be open on Saturdays and Sundays and on October 14, Indigenous Peoples Day/Columbus Day. Work may go past November 1 if there are any delays due to weather conditions or equipment malfunction.
