AICPA & CIMA Achieves Global Recognition as a Great Place To Work®

AICPA & CIMA Achieves Global Recognition as a Great Place to Work®

NEW YORK (July 17, 2024) - AICPA & CIMA, which together form the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (the Association), are officially a Great Place To Work ® (GPTW), according to the organization of the same name that tracks employee experience.

AICPA & CIMA are certified as a Great Place to Work in seven countries - The U.S., U.K., Ireland, South Africa, Malaysia, India and China. With a team of more than 1,200 employees, the Association has a long tradition of promoting from within, offering competitive salaries and rewarding accomplishments.

"I want to give credit to our teams across the globe who have achieved a Great Place to Work accreditation this year," said Sue Warman, chief people officer, AICPA & CIMA. "This is a reflection of great leadership and commitment to our purpose which in turn creates a positive culture across borders. Fundamental to our culture is having an honest dialogue with our staff, and running this survey is one of many methods we use to ensure this is happening."

Great Place To Work, an independent consultancy group and global authority on workplace culture, ran a confidential trust index survey of AICPA & CIMA employees, asking about key areas that can lead to higher workplace trust. The survey garnered an 85 percent response rate globally, providing the Association with representative results. Overall, the responses painted a picture of a high degree of satisfaction with work-life balance and flexibility in the workplace.

Key takeaways from the survey include:

  • 74 percent of employees spoke positively about the organization, and expressed the desire to give extra effort and stay long term;

  • 92 percent of employees said they are able to take time off when necessary;

  • 84 percent said they felt encouraged to balance their work and personal life;

  • The Association continues to score highly - an average of 89 percent across areas - in the areas of fair treatment regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

Some of the strategies the Association has employed to ensure it evolves as an accounting membership body and as a Great Place To Work for years to come include market-competitive salary and benefit packages that are reviewed annually; strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, including through a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council made up of global volunteers; and varied opportunities for professional development and continuing education. Long-time employee Lindsey Curley, senior manager of firm services, said that mental health in the workplace is a vital part of her wellbeing at the Association.

"Work-life balance is essential to employee mental health and wellbeing," said Curley. "Employees are more motivated, productive, and engaged when they have the autonomy to equally prioritize their career with their personal lives. AICPA & CIMA has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to work-life balance and these survey results confirm that this is still a priority for our organization and appreciated by staff."

The Great Place To Work Certification™ is valid for 12 months, after which AICPA & CIMA can renew by undergoing a similar survey.
