Route 51 Single-Lane Restrictions Next Thursday in Westmoreland County

07/25/2024

Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that Route 51 single-lane restrictions are scheduled for Thursday, August 1, 6:00 AM-4:00 PM, between Concord Lane and Cobble Lane/Porter Road in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County.

The daytime restrictions will be in both directions and controlled by flagging, with assistance from the Rostraver Township Police Department. There will be intermittent traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes and delays will be likely. All work depends on weather and operations.

Crews from Golden Triangle Construction Company will be removing the old Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway superstructure.

This work is part of the $120.6 million Interstate 70 Project involving the widening and reconstruction of Interstate 70 along with the reconstruction of the Route 51 Interchange (Exit 46) to replace it with a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). To accommodate the new interchange, the plans include one mile of reconstruction and widening on Route 51, and several intersecting roadways, including the relocation of Finley Road and Route 981. The project is anticipated to be complete in October 2027.

Remain alert and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
