The Initial Press Release of the SA2022 Ultra Light Vehicle Crashed During Take Off at Jiehao Activity Field, Pingtung County by the Sport Aviation Association

On August 3, 2024, a Sling Aircraft Sling LSA ultra-light vehicle of the Sport Aviation Association, control number SA2022, took off from runway 26 of Jiehao activity field, Gaoshu Township, Pingtung County at 1426L, carrying 1 operator and 1 occupant. The vehicle crashed into betel nut garden on the west side of runway 08 at 1427L. The vehicle suffered substantial damage and the 2 persons on board were slightly injured.

After receiving the notification, the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) immediately dispatched 2 investigators to the field to gather information in accordance with the procedures for investigating aviation occurrences. This event was identified by the TTSB as an aviation occurrence in accordance with the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act. An official investigation has been launched and the investigation team will continue to collect relevant evidence.
