I 696 Restore the Reuther update: Southbound US 24 (Telegraph Road) ramp to westbound I 696 closing July 22

The I-696 Restore the Reuther project in Oakland County continues with work to rebuild the southbound US-24 (Telegraph Road) ramp to westbound I-696for approximately two months. The southbound US-24 ramp to westbound M-10 remains open. The northbound US-24 ramp to westbound I-696 was previously closed as part of the traffic shift of both directions of I-696 sharing the eastbound side.

Beginning 10 a.m. Monday, July 22, the southbound US-24 (Telegraph Road) ramp to westbound I-696 will be closed, with traffic detoured on southbound US-24 (Telegraph Road) to westbound 12 Mile Road, then southbound Orchard Lake Road to westbound I-696.

For traffic that uses westbound M-10, the detour will continue northwest to westbound 12 Mile Road, then southbound Orchard Lake Road to westbound I-696.

Reminder, the westbound I-696 ramp to Orchard Lake Roadremains closed through mid-August. The detour is further westbound on I-696 to northbound M-5, then eastbound 12 Mile Road to Orchard Lake Road.

This $275 million I-696 Restore the Reuther investment includes rebuilding the roadway from the base up, including storm sewer replacement and rebuilding the ramps at Orchard Lake Road, American Drive, Franklin Road, and US-24 (Telegraph Road).

Funding for this project is made possible by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's Rebuilding Michigan programto rebuild the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state's economy and carry the most traffic. The investment strategy is aimed at fixes that result in longer useful lives and improve the condition of the state's infrastructure.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 3,328 jobs.
