UDOT advises motorists to plan for closuresin Salt Lake, Weber Counties

Several projects to impact I-15, I-215 and Ogden's 12th Street

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is encouraging drivers to consider several upcoming construction projects when planning their travel routes over the next several days:

Salt Lake County

• Bridge repairs: I-215 will be closed at 2700 South in West Valley City again this Monday, October 21, from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. Prior to the full closure, southbound I-215 will be reduced to one lane every night this week, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. These closures will allow crews to remove and repair the bridge beam at 2700 South, which was damaged when a tractor transporting machinery hit the bridge.

• Lane striping: Expect nightly lane and ramp closures while crews paint new lane markings on southbound I-15 in Salt Lake County near Midvale:
  • October 17: The southbound I-15 off-ramp to I-215 east and west as well as the I-215 southbound on-ramp from westbound I-215 will be closed.
  • October 19-21: The southbound I-15 ramp to I-215 will be closed, as well as the 7200 S on-ramp to SB I-15. In addition, the I-215 southbound collector ramp from eastbound I-215 will be closed.

• Overhead sign replacement: UDOT crews will be out replacing worn road signs at night in Salt Lake valley the next several nights:
  • October 18: The three right lanes of southbound I-15 from 900 South to 1300 South, as well as the collector ramp to 1300 South, 2100 South and westbound SR-210, will close from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews install new freeway signs.
  • October 20: The 500 South on-ramp to I-15 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead sign replacement.
  • October 21: The northbound Bangerter Highway on-ramp to I-80 and North Temple will be closed from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. for overhead sign replacement.

Weber County

• Union Pacific Railroad Crossing Reconstruction: 12^th Street (SR-39) in Ogden will be closed in both directions at the Union Pacific Railroad tracks (500 West) from Friday, October 18 at 9 p.m. to Monday, October 21, at 5 a.m. This closure will allow Union Pacific to reconstruct the rail crossing. Motorists should avoid the area and can use the 400 North or 21^st Street I-15 interchanges as alternate routes.
