This month, at the COP29 climate change conference we will demand urgent action on climate finance, which is key to a Just Transition for workers, particularly in the Global South. See our central demands here . As the climate crisis intensifies, workers need policies that prioritise both the environment and social justice.
The G20 Social Summit and G20 Leaders' Summit present vital opportunities to advocate for renewed commitment to the New Social Contract. We will highlight the need for labour rights and social inclusion in the fight against poverty and promote a Just Transition to promote sustainable development. We will also call for reforms in global governance to support diplomacy, peace, and common security. See the Labour 20 statement to the G20 here .
On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we commemorate five years since the adoption of ILO Convention 190, which aims to end violence and harassment in the workplace. Trade unions worldwide are campaigning for more countries to ratify and implement C190 to create safer, fairer workplaces for women and all vulnerable groups.
The ITUC General Council will meet in Brasilia, Brazil, from 3 to 5 December, to outline its 2025 work plan. Key discussions will focus on critical policies on trade, taxation, climate action and peace.
