Illinois Judicial Conference seeks applications for volunteer members

9/30/2024

The Illinois Judicial Conference (IJC) is accepting applications for three vacancies:

  1. An attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois (S. Ct. Rule 41(b)(1)(L));
  2. A circuit court clerk (S. Ct. Rule 41(b)(1)(J)); and
  3. A trial court administrator or court administrative staff (S. Ct. Rule 41(b)(1)(K)).

The IJC is charged with considering the work of the courts, suggesting improvements in the administration of justice, and strategic planning for the Illinois Judicial Branch. IJC membership is governed by Supreme Court Rule 41. The 29 member body includes 15 judicial members and 14 non-judicial members, and the Chief Justice of the Illinois Supreme Court serves as chair. The 2022-2025 Strategic Agenda is available here.

IJC members are expected to attend three in-person meetings each year, and to actively participate in one or more IJC task forces that meet throughout the year. Appointments will be effective January 1, 2025. IJC members serve three-year terms, and may serve up to two consecutive three-year terms.
