Domestic dispute leads to arrest in the town of Brasher Falls

On September 10, 2024, State Police members arrested Nicholas J. Rubado, age 39, of Brasher Falls, NY, for arson 3rd, strangulation 2nd, criminal mischief: reckless property damage, criminal mischief 3rd, assault 2nd, and harassment 2nd.

On September 10, 2024, at approximately 9:42 p.m., Troopers responded to Smith Street in the town of Brasher Falls for a domestic dispute involving a vehicle fire. An investigation determined that Rubado and the victim were involved in a verbal argument which turned physical when Rubado started to choke the victim and presented a screwdriver attempting to stab the victim with it. The victim was able to get away from Rubado. At some point during the altercation, Rubado was known to intentionally set a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado truck on fire which caused damage to a 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan.

Rubado was arrested and transported to SP Massena for processing. He was arraigned in the Town of Massena Court, where he was remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash, a $50,000 secured bond, or a $100,000 partially secured bond.
