Stolen Car Crash In Hyde Park

PRESS RELEASE

On September 10, 2024, Hyde Park Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts on Violet Avenue in the town of Hyde Park dispatched by Dutchess County 911 at approximately 4:50 a.m.

Hyde Park Police Department units located the stolen 2015 Honda Pilot, which was left running and unattended, nearby on Violet Avenue. A vehicle and traffic stop was initiated, but the operator failed to comply and fled south on Violet Avenue. The pursuit then entered Cottage Road to Creek Road were the operator later identified as, Sean J. Adams, age 30, of Hyde Park, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. The vehicle burst into flames and both Roosevelt and Fairview Fire Departments responded to the scene to help save the driver.

After extinguishing the flames, Sean Adams was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Hyde Park Police Department requested the New York State Police respond to the scene to adopt the investigation as lead agency. The New York State Attorney General's Office and Dutchess County Medical Examiner's Office also responded for the investigation.
