Renowned Saudi brand, a specialized producer of high-quality bottled water, completes an ambitious packaging optimization project with SACMI. With the new lightened neck and easy-to-open cap, the company continues to grow and innovate while maintaining a sharp focus on quality and the consumer experience
RAFA Water, a well-known Saudi brand that produces high-quality bottled water, continues to optimize its packaging with SACMI. The latest innovations include the just-introduced 29/25 light neck and the new easy-to-open cap.
Zero impact on packaging, 200 tons less PET per year for each installed IPS.
The new 29/25 mm lightweight neck is suitable for standard caps, making it a profitable yet versatile solution as it can be applied to existing production set-ups without having to change anything on the 29/25 cap. Neck weight has been reduced by about 15%. For the customer that means PET savings of 200 tons per year for each IPS installed with that specific mold; in all other cases, it drastically improves the ROI.
SACMI followed every stage of development of the new neck design, on a line with a 128-cavity mold mounted on an IPS 400 press: productivity is in the order of 73,000 preforms per hour.
Lightweight neck and easy-to-open cap. A winning combination
Reduced twist force makes opening easier, while increased height improves grip. Central to RAFA Water's strategy, the new cap features introduced by SACMI will make a considerable difference on the Saudi market. More specifically, the development process highlights SACMI's all-round support at both technological and product level, with the SACMI Rigid Packaging Lab following every aspect, from mold and preform design to development of the new cap.
"The combination of these two solutions", observes Barakath Al-Jadani, "generates exceptional results, allowing optimization of resources and allowing us to improve the consumer experience. At the same time, this development process is a significant step towards a gradual, profitable transition: it demonstrates how innovation - achieved with the right partner - is the key to successful sustainability".
Number of installed IPS-CCM lines rises to 9
RAFA water seeks to drive market development with packaging quality, process innovation and an optimized customer experience: since 2018, the company has self-produced caps and preforms using SACMI technology every step of the way.
These latest investments take the number of SACMI lines installed in Jeddah to 9 (5 IPS units for preforms and 4 CCM cap presses).
The owners are extremely satisfied with the latest developments: "SACMI", explains owner Barakath Al-Jadani. "responded to our needs promptly. Once again, we combined the introduction of new technology with all-round development of the product, thus sharpening our strategy of focusing on outstanding quality and a great consumer experience".
