Wastewater Discharge Notification

Aug. 7, 2024 - Beginning on Aug. 5, 2024, the wastewater collection system experienced wastewater discharges from manholes at four locations as a result of flooding from Hurricane Debby. These discharges ceased on Aug. 6 and are no longer ongoing.

  • Location 1: Approximately 30,000 gallons of wastewater was discharged from two manholes at the 6600 block of 34th Ave. N. The wastewater mixed with floodwater and entered Miles Creek.

  • Location 2: Approximately 152,050 gallons of wastewater was discharged from 10 manholes at the 6000 block of 22nd Ave. N. The wastewater mixed with floodwater and entered a ditch on 22nd Ave. N. and 58th St. N. Crews were able to prevent 94,000 gallons from discharging by capturing with tanker trucks.

  • Location 3: Approximately 62,100 gallons of wastewater was discharged from three manholes at the 2500 block of 39th Ave. N. The wastewater mixes with floodwater and entered Shore Lake.

  • Location 4: Approximately 185,040 gallons of wastewater was discharged from 11 manholes at the 800 block of 53rd Ave. N. Of this, 34,000 was recovered from the ground and 151,040 gallons of the wastewater mixed with floodwater and entered the 54th Ave. N./Dr. MLK St. N Canal. Crews were also able to prevent an additional 34,000 gallons from discharging by capturing with tanker trucks before it reached the ground.
