City Email transitions from .COM to .GOV

The City of Balch Springs Announces Transition to New .gov Email Domain

Balch Springs, Texas - September 13, 2024 - The Marketing and Communications department is pleased to announce an important update to its digital communications infrastructure: the transition to a new .gov email domain. This significant change reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing security, improving communication efficiency, and reinforcing public trust in our digital interactions.

Effective September 11, 2024, all official emails from the City of Balch Springs will be sent from addresses ending in @balchspringstx.gov. This transition marks a critical step in aligning with federal cybersecurity standards and providing an extra layer of verification for our communications.

Key Details:

  • New Domain: The new email addresses will end in @balchspringstx.gov (e.g., [email protected]). Domain transitions exclude those emails ending in @balchspringspd.com.
  • Transition Period: During this period, emails sent to and from both the old and new domains will be monitored to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Action Required: Please update your contact information to reflect our new email addresses. For the time being, both old and new email addresses will be active, but we encourage all correspondents to use the new .gov addresses moving forward.

Benefits of the .gov Transition:

  • Enhanced Security: The .gov domain is exclusively reserved for government entities, reducing the risk of phishing and impersonation attacks.
  • Increased Trust: A .gov domain signifies a verified and authoritative source, enhancing public confidence in communications.
  • Streamlined Communication: A unified domain simplifies contact processes for the public and internal stakeholders.

We appreciate your cooperation during this transition period.

The City of Balch Springs remains dedicated to providing exceptional service and maintaining the highest standards of security and transparency. We are excited about this upgrade and look forward to continuing our engagement with the public through our new .gov email domain.

For any questions or assistance related to the new email addresses, please contact our Marketing and Communications department at [email protected].
