Notice of Property Tax Increase

NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

The Lowndes County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a 2024 millage rate which will require an increase in property tax by 6.09 percent.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on the tax increase to be held at the Lowndes County Judicial Complex, 327 N. Ashley St., Valdosta, GA on October 15, 2024 at 5:00 pm.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 7.804 mills, an increase of 0.448 mills. Without this tentative increase, the millage rate will be no more than 7.356 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $250,000 is approximately $42.11 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $200,000 is approximately $35.84.
