Dublin City Council is delighted to announce a number of opportunities for artists at locations throughout the city as part of the Creative Residency programme.

In partnership with the Dublin City Council Culture Company, the Council's sports section is now inviting applications from artists to spend 11 months in residence in one of four designated Community Sports and Recreation Centres.

This residency will provide the opportunity for four artists to work closely with Dublin City Council Sports and Recreation Centres, including the centre manager and team, existing customers (individuals, teams, groups), any tenants in-situ in the building, and members of the wider local community.

The four participating centres are:

Ballybough Community, Youth and Sports Centre

Bluebell Community and Recreation Centre

Irishtown Sports & Fitness Centre

Poppintree Community Sports Centre

At the end of the residency, outcomes may include new artwork(s), or may comprise solely of process-based work. Where artworks are made they may include (but are not limited to) exhibition, performance, publication, photography, film and music.

Each of the four selected artists will be offered a Contract for Service with a fee of up to €16,000 to cover approximately 80 days spent working on the residency. Closing date for applications is Monday 12 August 2024.

Full details of the creative residency including application details can be found on the Culture Company's website.

Dublin City Council Culture Company is also seeking proposals from artists who wish to apply for one of two short term residencies to develop a creative response to the museum at 14 Henrietta Street.

The response could focus for example, on the building itself, the oral history collection, the museum artefacts, the visitor experience or the museum's way of working.

Previous artist responses and projects have included poetry, photography, theatre and music. Much of the existing artist responses focus on the tenement era of the house, so they would also welcome applications which include other periods within the 300 year history of the house.

The selected artists will be offered a Contract for Service with a fee of €6,000. Each residency will take place over approximately 30 days, from September to December 2024, or February to May 2025 respectively, with exact dates and times to be agreed with the selected artists.

Full details can be found on the 14 Henrietta Street website. The deadline for submission of proposals is Monday 22 July 2024.
