Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation Director Kyle Langlois Appointed as mParks President-Elect

The City of Sterling Heights proudly announces that Parks and Recreation Director Kyle Langlois has been appointed president-elect of mParks (Michigan Recreation and Park Association), the state-wide professional organization for parks and recreation.

Langlois will serve a two-year term as president-elect, followed by his term as mParks president from 2026 through 2028. This appointment also places him on the mParks board of directors, where he will play a pivotal role in advancing parks and recreation initiatives across the state.

Recently, Langlois has served as an active leader within mParks as the Public Policy chair for the last three years. In this role, he has worked closely with mParks and elected officials to advocate for funding, legislation, and public support that benefit parks and recreational services statewide. His leadership has been instrumental in securing resources and policies that promote sustainable and accessible parks for Michigan's residents and visitors.

"Sterling Heights is proud of Kyle's appointment as president-elect of mParks," said Sterling Heights Mayor Michael Taylor. "His dedication to our community has transformed our parks, and we have seen firsthand the positive impact parks and recreation have on the quality of life for our residents. Sterling Heights is fortunate to have some of the best in the field, and his work with mParks will ensure that communities across the state benefit from the same level of excellence, improving access to top-quality parks and recreation services."

Langlois has also been a key figure in transforming Sterling Heights' parks system. His leadership through the "Recreating Recreation" initiative has brought innovative amenities to the city, including an ice rink, skate park, splash pad, farmers market, amphitheatre, and more. These efforts have greatly improved quality of life, contributing to Sterling Heights' reputation as a livable, active, and inclusive community.

As president-elect, Langlois will help guide mParks' efforts to promote the health, environmental, and social benefits of parks throughout Michigan. His work will further mParks' mission to improve the quality of life in communities by fostering access to parks and recreation that serve people of all ages and backgrounds.

"I am honored to have been elected to serve as president-elect of mParks," said Parks and Recreation Director Kyle Langlois. "Parks and recreation are essential to our community's well-being, and I look forward to working with mParks and state leaders to continue supporting and growing these resources for Michigan residents."
