Cherokee Nation hosting Job Fair Expo in Pryor for child care, Head Start recruitment

PRYOR, Okla. - Cherokee Nation is hosting a job fair expo for those interested in various jobs coming soon for three new childcare centers that will be located in Pryor, Catoosa and Sallisaw.

"Cherokee Nation Head Start and Child Development Centers are vital to the future of Cherokee children," Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. said. "These programs and those who work in them provide our youngest citizens with the foundational skills and support needed for growth and success. We encourage anyone who may be interested in these careers to come and learn about the opportunities available to them."

The job fair expo will be hosted on Wednesday, Aug. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Rogers State University Pryor campus set in the Pryor Industrial Park.

Event highlights include:

- Recruitment for new staff
- Cherokee Nation Human Resources will be onsite to take applications
- Cherokee Nation Career Services will also be onsite for training recruitment for those interested in starting a childcare/home daycare
- Resume building assistance
- Applications for students for Childcare Center and Head Start
- Additional vendors will be onsite

Earlier this year, Chief Hoskin reauthorized the 2021Verna D. Thompson Early Childhood Education Act, which set aside $80 million in funding to support the replacement of aging early childhood education Head Start centers across the Cherokee Nation Reservation. Along with the Head Start replacements, Cherokee Nation is also building a new Child Development Center in Sallisaw, upgrading the Child Development Center in Stilwell and constructing a new facility in Pryor that combines Head Start and Child Development Center services.
