E-18 Officers Arrest Suspect with a Loaded Firearm

At about 9:48 PM, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, officers assigned to District E-18 (Hyde Park) arrested Gesner Joseph, 22, of West Roxbury, on firearm charges.

Officers responded to the area of 147 West Street for a report of a male subject refusing to pay for a tow, and making threats that he had a firearm. Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of the suspect.

Officers were advised that the suspect was grabbing his waistband and stated to the victim that he would shoot him if he didn't get his car. Officers approached the suspect and requested he remove his hands from his pockets which he complied.

Officers immediately conducted a pat frisk of the suspect and recovered a firearm from the suspect's right pant pocket. Officers continued their search and recovered a loaded magazine in the suspect's left pant pocket. The firearm was later determined to be a Sig Sauer P365 and a separate magazine was loaded with eleven rounds.

Joseph was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
