UW Announces Plans for Family Weekend 2024

The University of Wyoming will welcome parents, grandparents, siblings and other family members to its annual Family Weekend Oct. 10-13.

This special event offers families a chance to experience campus life and participate in a variety of activities designed to create lasting memories.

Weekend highlights include:

Thursday, Oct. 10

-- 5:30-7 p.m.: "Oktoberfest" at Pokes Pub in the Wyoming Union with Wind River Brewing. Enjoy an exclusive look at the history of Wind River Brewing, learn how pilsners are made, and sample some Wind River Brews. Attendees 21 years of age and up receive a free beer. Those under 21 receive a free root beer.

-- 7 p.m.: UW Symphony Orchestra concert. Delight in a concert by the UW Symphony, meet Conductor Michael Griffith and the musicians, and mingle with them and other families after the performance.

Friday, Oct. 11

-- 8-11 p.m.: Live music by Saltwater Sky. Join 7220 and Student Success and Graduation at Union After Dark for a night of dancing to live music in a family-friendly atmosphere. Learn line dances and swing dance basics an hour before the Union After Dark event.

Saturday, Oct. 12

-- 10 a.m.-1 p.m.: Pete's Party Lawn Tailgate. Live music and food will be provided.

-- 1:30 p.m.: UW football game. Cheer on the Cowboys from the Family Weekend section as they take on San Diego State University at War Memorial Stadium.

-- 7 p.m.: UW women's volleyball match. Support the Cowgirls vs. Boise State inside the UniWyo Sports Complex.

Sunday, Oct. 13

-- 9 a.m.: President's Brunch. Conclude the weekend with a brunch, featuring awards and a raffle for prizes, including a chance to win a spring semester tuition waiver.

-- Parent of the Year Award: This annual award, nominated by students, honors a parent for their involvement and dedication to their student's academic pursuits. It is presented during the President's Brunch.
