EUROCONTROL has just recently delivered the new release of its Surveillance Data Distribution System (SDDS). After over a year of development and successful trials, our surveillance team launched version 7.0.0 of the SDDS, featuring a revamped system's architecture and enhanced cybersecurity functionalities.
Over the past years, EUROCONTROL has been committed to enhancing the exchange of surveillance data across Europe. Through the development of SDDS, a versatile and high-performance communication gateway, EUROCONTROL enables Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) to exchange surveillance data in an efficient manner, contributing to the reliable and efficient operation of the pan-European ATM network. Acting as an interface between the external world and the ATC Centres, SDDS is meant to protect the ATC systems from deficient data coming directly from sensors or other surveillance data exchange networks.
Thanks to the feedback from our dedicated community of ANSPs, version 7.0.0 introduces virtualisation, significant enhancements in cybersecurity, improvements to the Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) server, and better monitoring and control through the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). Additionally, increased automation of the Verification and Validation processes has made the SDDS application more efficient.
Furthermore, this latest SDDS version responds to our community's feedback and needs, paving the way for SDDS operational deployments at Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs).
