Celebrating 50 Years of Innovation: Weidmuller USA's Commitment to Energy Evolution and Excellence

For nearly five decades, Weidmuller USA, headquartered in Richmond, VA, has been a pioneer in smart industrial connectivity and automation. They are part of the Weidmuller Group with headquarters in Detmold, Germany.

With a new yet familiar leader at the helm, the company's dedication to innovation is more evident than ever as they expand their U.S. footprint and bring energy storage, PV combiner boxes with monitoring, blade monitoring, and smart grid technologies closer to the customer.

Expansion and Commitment to "Made in the USA"

Weidmuller's commitment to American manufacturing and ambitions to enhance its product offerings and solutions for the industry are underscored by their recent investment in a new engineering and production facility. The new facility will focus on producing key components for the PV industry, such as combiner boxes.

With a grand opening scheduled for Spring 2025, this 24,000-square-foot facility represents a $16 million investment in the future of clean energy, electrical connectivity and digitalization that drives industrial automation and a smarter grid. The expansion marks a significant milestone in Weidmuller's journey.

The ground-breaking ceremony was held in May and attended by Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, highlighting the importance of this project for the state and local community. The expansion is expected to create 100 new jobs.

Driving Technology Advancement

As Weidmuller continues to expand its U.S. presence and capabilities, the company remains at the forefront of clean energy and smart grid solutions.

Sr. Director of Marketing and Market Intelligence Caroline March-Long emphasized Weidmuller's special focus on solutions for the U.S. industry with respect to clean energy, smart grid technology and a full suite of products to cover the power, data and signaling needs of battery storage applications.

March Long said, "NEMA has helped us understand where the industry is going and the regulatory environment we can expect. Combined with the important standards work we do together, they have been a key partner to us as we continue to grow our U.S. presence and technology portfolio."

Randy Sadler: A Full Circle Moment

This summer, Weidmuller welcomes the return of Randy Sadler as President and CEO, marking a full-circle moment in his trailblazing career. Randy first joined the company in 1985 and spent 15 years at Weidmuller, rising to the position of Vice President of Sales. An industry veteran, Randy brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of driving industrial automation. His leadership is expected to guide Weidmuller through this exciting period of growth and innovation.

"We're excited to grow the business here in Virginia. You can see the orange passion. We have a first-class office and manufacturing space. It is truly a great place to work."
