Helix Robotics Solutions Expands Renewables Capacity and Service Offerings

Helix continues its energy transition strategy by expanding site clearance capacity and establishing new service line.

Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. (NYSE: HLX) has entered into a three-year charter agreement with Sea Energy AS for the offshore support vessel Trym for work on a range of opportunities in the offshore Renewables sector including unexploded ordnance (UXO) identification and disposal using our industry proven and government approved low-order deflagration system, boulder clearance and other WROV (Work Class Remotely Operated Vehicle) activities. The charter commences early 2025 to primarily support operations for clients in the North Sea and Baltic Sea regions.

The Trym, a DP2 73-meter multi-role vessel, will be configured with a 150 HP state-of-the-art WROV and Helix's new in-house designed and custom-built IROV boulder grab. The Trym will be equipped with a 25Te AHC crane and 380m2 of unobstructed deck space and is capable of carrying 40 persons onboard. The Trym is expected to operate across energy sectors supporting Helix's new and existing clients.

Helix has recently expanded its offshore site clearance services and operations to include explosives ordnance disposal (EOD) capability, headed by Helix's EOD Director Andrew Woollven. EOD operations will be managed from the UK's South Coast, and the EOD team will deliver UXO solutions for a variety of projects with a particular focus on the growth of the global offshore wind market. The Trym, along with our WROV and IROV boulder grab and our in-house EOD capabilities, allows Helix to offer integrated site clearance solutions to the offshore wind sector and our growing client base.
