Senator Carper Celebrates the Health Care Accomplishments Achieved by the Inflation Reduction Act ➞

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today at the Senate Finance Committee hearing "Lower Health Care Costs for Americans: Understanding the Benefits of the Inflation Reduction Act," U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.) emphasized how the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) has allowed Medicare beneficiaries to stop worrying about affording their life-saving medications. During the hearing, Senator Carper mentioned how before the IRA was passed, many people had to make financial sacrifices as they struggled to both get the care they need and make ends meet.

Senator Carper highlighted how the IRA has helped Delawareans lower their health care costs:

"The Inflation Reduction Act is now projected to save residents of Delaware some $28 million on prescription drugs next year […] Over 63,400 residents are already seeing decreased costs for their prescription drugs. That is 63,400 people who will not be forced to choose between how to pay for the medications and putting food on the table and 63,400 Delawarean seniors who will no longer need to make daily sacrifices to be able to pay for their prescription drugs […] 6,100 Delaware Medicare beneficiaries who require insulin medications are not paying a cent more than $35 a month for their life-sustaining drugs today. These are real savings that our seniors in Delaware, and other places, are seeing today."
