Public invited to information session for project in Garden of the Gods Park

Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS), in collaboration with Colorado Springs Utilities, the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) and the Office of Accessibility, invite the public to attend an information session on Wednesday, August 14 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Coronado High School.

This meeting will provide community members with an opportunity to learn more about the project and its benefits. Representatives for the project will be on hand to provide project details, answer questions, and gather feedback from attendees following the presentation that begins promptly at 6 p.m.

The project, expected to begin this fall, will involve the installation of 8,000 feet of new waterline and nine fire hydrants to enhance fire and park safety, and improve emergency response capabilities by ensuring a readily available water source for firefighters.

Additional improvements will also be made to enhance accessibility with the creation of a fully accessible parking lot and ADA compliant trails into the Central Garden. Approximately 3,200 feet of asphalt will be replaced to provide accessible parking nearer to the Central Gardens. A more sustainable, accessible concrete trail will also replace the current trail to the Central Garden.
