Mike Rogers Stands with Billionaire Betsy DeVos as She Renews Commitment to Gut Public Schools

Mike Rogers stands with Betsy DeVos who is leading a push to "destroy public schools"

LANSING - In the first week of the general election, Mike Rogers stood with Betsy DeVos as she renewed her commitment to gut public schools. Rogers and DeVos are both strong proponents of the DeVos plan to funnel Michigan taxpayer money to private schools, gutting public school funding in Michigan by $500 million.

DeVos has led a push to "destroy public schools" in Michigan, and Rogers has voted repeatedly for school vouchers to siphon money away from public schools.

DeVos has "maxed out political contributions" to Rogers after he supported tax giveaways that benefit her and her billionaire friends while hardworking Michigan families pay the price. Last month, Rogers again called to reinstate the Trump corporate tax giveaway that would slash tax rates for the ultra-wealthy and large corporations.

"Mike Rogers voted to siphon money away from public schools and to give tax cuts to Betsy DeVos and her billionaire friends while Michigan families pay the price. It's clear that Rogers is only in this race to enrich himself and his wealthy special interest backers, and that's why Michiganders can't trust him in the Senate," said Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Sam Chan.
