Park Street Closed between 5th and 6th Ave

Park Street between 5th and 6th Avenues will be closed to traffic starting on August 19th as part of a collaborative effort between the City of Grinnell, V&K Engineering, Grinnell College, and Con-Struct, Inc. to update utilities, pedestrian access, and the roadway. Buildings on Park Street can be accessed via the alleys east and west of Park Street.

Weather permitting, the construction will go by the following schedule:

• August 19-23: Park Street will be closed between 5th and 6th Avenues. Demolition of the roadway will begin.
• August 26-30: Installation of underground utilities will take place
• September 2-6: Water main installation north of Highway 6 will occur, with a limited closure of Park Street just north of Highway 6.
• September 9-13: Water and sewer service connections will be made; the city will notify residents when service outages will occur.
• September 16-Until Completion: Roadway construction between 5th and 6th Avenue will include sub-base, drainage, storm sewer, pavement, sidewalks, pole lighting, and pedestrian crossing controls at Highway 6 and Park, and Highway 6 and Broad Street.
