BioGrad Seminar Speaker Lunch Nov. 9

Biology Graduate Student Association

The Biology Graduate Student Association has invited professor Mariana Wolfner from Cornell University for a Biological Sciences seminar on Thursday, Nov. 9. BioGrad will be hosting a pre-seminar lunch in Science-Enginering Building room 502 from noon to 1 p.m. with Wolfner to learn more about her research and experience. Food and drinks will be provided.

Wolfner is a professor in the Cornell University Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics and works on the interactions between sperm and egg in the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster. Her lab focuses on the molecular biology, right from identifying genes and proteins required during the fertilization process and the functions of different seminal fluid proteins before, during and after fertilization, and their effects on the development and behaviors of both males and females. She is an ardent follower of STEM diversity and has contributed in myriad ways to promote equality in sciences. You all can check her lab's website.

This event is supported by the Student Activities Fee as a funded event by the Associated Student Government and is free to all currently enrolled University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students who pay the student activities fee.
