New RIDE On Demand Service Surpasses 10,000 Rides in New Brunswick

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (July 1, 2024) - A new on-demand transportation service launched in New Brunswick just a few months ago has already surpassed 10,000 rides.

The "RIDE On Demand" program, a pilot initiative by Middlesex County officials, offers residents a convenient and affordable way to get around the city. Passengers can hail rides through a mobile app or by calling, for just $3. The most common wait time has been about two minutes.

Early data shows the service is attracting a diverse range of users. Since March 18, 11,516 persons have been transported on 10,366 trips. The program is used for a variety of purposes by residents. A significant portion of trips end at residences. Another significant portion is used for trips to access food, entertainment, businesses, and stores. The program is also used for trips to schools, Rutgers University, healthcare facilities, and supermarkets.

The service operates weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

To download this new app, iPhone users should visit the App Store; Android users can visit the Google Play Store. Search "Middlesex County RIDE On Demand." For individuals without access to digital devices, rides can also be booked by phone at 732-655-6600.
