This year, the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium launched a multi-year, $257 million project to improve and expand emergency services at the Alaska Native Medical Center. Construction on Phase 1A of this project is nearing completion and we are excited to provide patient care in this new space!

Construction Update:

Construction is nearly complete on the Alaska Native Medical Center's Temporary Emergency Services Department (ESD)! We anticipate seeing patients in this space beginning Thursday, Sept. 5. Please stay tuned as we will announce the official opening date next week.

Temporary Emergency Services Department entrance:

Once the Temporary ESD opens, patients will no longer present to the Emergency Room located on the northeast side of the ANMC hospital. Patients will present for care to the Temporary ESD, located on the southeast side of the ANMC hospital. Please look for updated signage.

To access the Temporary ESD, please enter from the Diplomacy Drive entrance, as the Tudor Centre entrance will be closed for construction activities. The former Emergency Room entrance will be closed for construction, as we move into the next phases of the Emergency Services Expansion project.

Parking Update:

Most of the ANMC hospital east parking lot is fenced off for construction activities. Day parking is no longer available in the ANMC hospital east lot, with the exception of limited ADA accessible parking. The remainder of available parking in this area is reserved for Emergency Services Department patients.

Additional parking locations include (and are highlighted on the graphic): the ANMC Patient Housing Parking Garage (north of the hospital), the Denali Parking Garage (east of the hospital), and the Flattop Mountain Parking Garage (south of the hospital). There is a marked pedestrian path from the Denali Parking Garage for all foot traffic between the garage and the ANMC hospital.
