Ann Arbor Police Chief Appointed to NOBLE International Board

August 23, 2024 - ​The Ann Arbor City Council proudly announced the appointment of Andre Anderson to serve as its police chief in February 2024. On August 13, 2024, Ann Arbor Police Chief Andre Anderson was selected to serve on the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement (NOBLE) international board. NOBLE is at the forefront of providing solutions to law enforcement issues and concerns, as well as to the ever-changing needs of our communities. Its commitment to "Justice By Action" serves the demands of law enforcement issues worldwide, making NOBLE a valuable asset for anyone interested in pursuing improvement within the administration of justice. Ann Arbor Police Chief Andre Anderson will serve as the Assistant to the 47th National President.

This prestigious appointment highlights Chief Anderson's exemplary leadership and commitment to advancing justice through action, promoting effective community policing, and dedicating himself to the professional development of law enforcement executives across the country. Chief Andre Anderson was inducted into the Washington DC National Law Enforcement Museum for leading highly profile incidents and serving to infuse evidence-based community policing as the Interim Police Chief of Ferguson, Missouri. He has also served as the Executive Deputy Police Chief in Rochester, New York, Executive Assistant Police Chief in Tempe, Arizona, and has served as a leader over every major command in modern-day law enforcement police departments.

In this volunteer role, Chief Anderson is committed to providing strategic support and expert advice to the NOBLE National President. He is dedicated to contributing to key initiatives and representing NOBLE's mission and values at various national and international forums. His responsibilities will include assisting with policy development and program implementation, as well as fostering collaborative relationships with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations, inviting all stakeholders to participate in the process.

Ann Arbor City Administrator Milton Dohoney Jr. points to Chief Anderson's 36-year tenure in law enforcement as a testament to his unwavering dedication to public safety and community engagement. Adding his extensive experience and leadership skills make him a valuable asset to NOBLE and the Ann Arbor community.
