CSCU Libraries Participate in CSCU Library Consortium-sponsored Summer Retreat

More than 80 people across Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) libraries participated in a CSCU Library Consortium-sponsored Summer Retreat on Aug. 1 at Southern Connecticut State University.

During the retreat, librarians from Central Connecticut State University, CT State Gateway, and CT State Quinebaug Valley shared perspectives and strategies for engaging campus communities in conversations about generative AI.

The retreat featured keynote speaker Jane Stimpson (Consultant at the Massachusetts Library System), who led participants in a discussion of GenAI and its impacts on higher education and the diverse communities served by the CSCU libraries.

During the retreat, the inaugural Dr. Clara Ogbaa Award was presented to CT State Norwalk's Everett I.L. Baker Library for their project, Transforming Library Spaces into an Inviting Learning Oasis. The Dr. Clara Ogbaa Award recognizes people who have been or are currently working on projects that have significantly advanced library services to CSCU students, faculty, and staff. The award is named in honor of Dr. Ogbaa, a retiree of Southern Connecticut State University and CT State Gateway, who traveled from Texas to be a part of the event and offered inspiring remarks in which she reflected on her career and the underlying values of library services.
