Inquest into the Death of O’Neil Singh Ramnath Announced

Dr. Jennifer M. Dmetrichuk, Regional Supervising Coroner, Central Region, Toronto East Office, announced that an inquest will be held into the death of O'Neil Singh Ramnath.

Mr. Ramnath, 41, died on December 26, 2016, while in custody at the Toronto East Detention Centre. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Ramnath's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.
