Cagliari-Oristano line electrification

The Salcef Group secures the contract to electrify the first line of the railway network in Sardinia.

Salcef Group's subsidiaries, Euro Ferroviaria and Salcef, have emerged as the winners of the tender issued by RFIto electrify the Cagliari-Oristano standard gauge line. This project, valued at over 45 million euros and partially funded through the Development and Cohesion Fund, will allow for the reduction of emissions and noise along the 95 km railway stretch.

The works involve executive design and construction of the 3kV DC overhead contact lines, as well as the installation of 6 electrical substations. This new infrastructure will significantly diminish the reliance on diesel-powered vehicles, leading to notable environmental benefits and overall improvements in railway performance.

The electrification of the Cagliari-Oristano line represents a significant milestone in bolstering Sardinia's railway infrastructure. This initiative will foster greater sustainabilityin rail transport, enhancing the travel experience for passengers while reducing environmental impact.
