Buffalo Man Sentenced in Three Separate Cases

Monday, August 5, 2024

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that 20-year-old Kahill J. Reeves of Buffalo was sentenced this morning before Acting Erie County Court Judge Andrew C. LoTempio. He received an indeterminate sentence of 1 1/3 to 4 years in prison.

In May 2024, Reeves pleaded guilty to the following offenses in three separate cases:

  • One count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree (Class "D" felony)
  • One count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree (Class "E" felony)
  • One count of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle in the Third Degree (Class "A" misdemeanor)
  • One count of Petit Larceny (Class "A" misdemeanor)

On Monday, January 22, 2024, at approximately 7:48 p.m., Town of Tonawanda Police officers responded to Dupont Avenue for a report of a stolen Ford F-150 truck, which had been taken from the victim's driveway after a key was left inside of the vehicle. During the investigation, a police officer observed the defendant enter the stolen vehicle, which was parked in a driveway of another residence on the 1400 block of Sheridan Drive. The defendant drove the vehicle in reverse at a high-rate of speed and hit the occupied police patrol vehicle. The officer exited the patrol vehicle during the incident while ordering the defendant to stop. After causing damage to the front bumper of the police vehicle, the defendant recklessly drove through a front lawn then proceeded to travel onto Sheridan Drive in an attempt to flee police. The defendant, who was operating the vehicle without a valid driver's license, was later taken into custody by New York State Police.

On Thursday, December 21, 2023, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the defendant stole the victim's property, which was inside of a locker at a fitness facility on Sheridan Drive in the Town of Amherst. Reeves was found in possession of the victim's backpack.

Later the same day, at approximately 8:10 p.m., the defendant stole the property of another victim, which was inside of a locker at a fitness facility on McKinley Parkway in the Town of Hamburg. Reeves was later found in possession of the victim's wallet, credit cards and keys.

Acting DA Keane commends the Town of Tonawanda Police Department, New York State Police, Town of Hamburg Police Department, Amherst Police Department, and the Buffalo Police Department for their work in these investigations.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Megan E. Mahoney of the Felony Trials Bureau.
