Nassau Health Care Corporation Awarded Hospital Gold Seal of Approval Accreditation by The Joint Commission

Gold Seal of Approval Recognizes NUMC's Excellence in the Areas of Patient Rights, Infection Control, Surgical Services and Patient Safety

(EAST MEADOW, NY)- After a rigorous evaluation, Nassau Health Care Corporation is proud to announce that it has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a NHCC's commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

Earlier this summer on June 4, Nassau Health Care Corporation underwent an in-depth, unannounced onsite review by representatives for The Joint Commission. During the visit, a team of reviewers from The Joint Commission evaluated compliance with Hospital Accreditation standards across several areas including patient rights, infection control, surgical services and patient safety.

The Gold Seal of Approval accreditation comes on the heels of NUMC's expansion of general, pediatric and women's health clinic services on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until 9pm. NUMC, which recently brought online a new MRI center and anticipates opening a new Cath Lab to perform life-saving heart procedures in 2025. According to a recent independent audit, the hospital's fiscal reforms have been found to be markedly improving its financial position, even though Albany leaders have refused to provide additional aid for the safety net facility.

The Joint Commission is a United States-based nonprofit that accredits more than 22,000 U.S. health care organizations and programs. The international branch accredits medical services from around the world. The Joint Commission's standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance. The surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
