City of Buffalo - Riverline

Negative Declaration

Erie County - The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Riverline will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of a 1.5 mile-long elevated nature trail and greenway that links downtown Buffalo to the Buffalo River along the abandoned former Delaware, Lackawanna and Western (DL&W) elevated rail corridor owned by the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA). The Riverline corridor travels from Canalside in downtown Buffalo to the Buffalo River across from the Tesla manufacturing facility at Riverbend. The corridor runs through the Old First Ward, Perry, and Valley neighborhoods. The trail will be located entirely on land owned by the NFTA. The Riverline is proposed to be a multi-use (i.e. walking and biking) nature trial and greenway. The project is located on various NFTA-owned addresses, 1.5 mile former rail corridor from downtown Buffalo's Canalside to the Buffalo River Half Bridge Overlook in the City of Buffalo, New York.
