The ICGEB Regulatory Science Group has announced funding from Open Philanthropy to support the development of a living literature review website focused on gene drive research.
Open Philanthropy is a philanthropic funder focusing on Global Health & Wellbeing and Global Catastrophic Risks.
Living literature reviews represent a dynamic approach to research synthesis, providing continuously updated summaries of scientific findings to ensure information remains current in rapidly advancing fields.
Gene drive research, which explores advanced ways to address global challenges such as vector-borne diseases and invasive species, is evolving quickly and brings complex regulatory, ecological, and ethical questions. Traditional literature reviews can soon become outdated in such fast-paced areas, making it challenging for stakeholders to stay well-informed. To be launched imminently, this living literature review will offer accessible, up-to-date content for those engaged in or impacted by gene drive developments.
This initiative reaffirms the ICGEB Regulatory Science Group's commitment to supporting informed decision-making and public engagement around cutting-edge biotechnologies.
