New York, N.Y. - Leader Schumer created the Tech Hubs Program as part of his CHIPS and Science Law that passed last Congress in 2022. The program will supercharge America's semiconductor future, providing money for workforce training, attracting new companies, boosting innovation, and securing our supply chain.

After years of relentless advocacy, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer today announced the 12 Tech Hub award winners across the country that were created as a result of his CHIPS and Science bill. Among those who received the prestigious federal Tech Hub designation was Buffalo-Rochester-Syracuse, which brought in a major $40 million in federal funding to further position Upstate NY as a semiconductor center for the world.

This significant and highly competitive federal investment will supercharge communities across America to build out their workforce training initiatives, strengthen existing manufacturing and innovation, and help attract new supply chains from the billions in private and federal semiconductor investment.

"What was lost overseas, can now be made in America once again," said Leader Schumer. "This is a monumental victory for our country - for our national security readiness, our workforce, and our communities. The CHIPS and Science law was designed with the American people in mind. These tech hubs have the potential to revitalize cities and towns across the country, creating countless jobs, investing in American innovation, and bringing back manufacturing. With these federal dollars - partnered with private investment - America will boost its competitiveness and stay as a leader in the semiconductor space on the world stage."
