Congressmen Raja Krishnamoorthi and Brad Wenstrup Introduce Bipartisan Resolution to Condemn All Forms of Political Violence
WASHINGTON, D.C. -Today, Congressmen Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) and Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) introduced a resolution condemning all forms of political violence. The resolution asserts that Americans must settle their political differences without resorting to threats or violence of any kind, even when they deeply care about an issue or opinion and strongly disagree with someone else. The bipartisan resolution comes just weeks after the failed assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Threats against election officials, lawmakers, and judges have increased roughly 10 times since 2016. Despite that, the Chicago Project on Security and Threats has reported that 75 percent of Americans believe "Republicans and Democrats in Congress should make a joint statement condemning any political violence in America."
