Notice of District Associate Judge vacancy in Judicial District 5B

The Judicial Nominating Commission for District 5B has received notification that there is a District Associate Judge vacancy in Judicial Election District 5B. The person appointed to fill this vacancy will be expected to carry out any assignment made by the Chief Judge of the Fifth Judicial District that is within the jurisdiction of a district associate judge, as defined in Iowa Code section 602.6306.

Anyone who wishes to be considered for appointment to fill this vacancy shall complete a written application. Applicants for this position must have the following minimum qualifications: (1) be an attorney admitted to practice law in Iowa; (2) be a resident of Judicial Election District 5B or a contiguous county of Judicial Election District 5B, but if nominated and before assuming office must be or otherwise remain a resident of Judicial Election District 5B during the entire term of office; and (3) be able, measured by the person's age at the time of appointment, to complete the initial term of office, as defined in the Iowa Code prior to reaching age seventy-two (72).

Application forms and complete instructions may be obtained from the Iowa Judicial Nominating Commission website. Completed applications must be electronically submitted to Judge Dustria Relph ([email protected]), Chairperson of the Judicial Nominating Commission, District 5B, Jenny Webster ([email protected]), court administration representative, along with all members of the Commission to their email addresses that can be found on the website.

The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, Nov. 1, at 4:00 p.m. Interviews with the Commission will be held at the Clarke County Courthouse in Osceola on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
