Rest Area, Lane & Ramp Closures
Interstate 5 And State Routes 99 & 140

Merced County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on Interstate 5 (I-5) and State Route 99 (SR-99) and SR-140 for maintenance and construction operations. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:

Interstate 5

• Full closure of the John C. Erreca Rest Areas on northbound and southbound I-5 beginning Monday, April 4, 2022, through May 31, 2025.
• • ALTERNATE LOCATIONS: Motorists are advised to use the Coalinga-Avenal Rest Area (Fresno/Kings County line).

State Route 99

• One-way traffic control on Le Grand Road Over-Crossing for striping operations beginning Sunday, October 13, through Friday, October 18, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• One-way traffic control on eastbound Mission Avenue Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 13, through Friday, October 18, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• One-way traffic control on westbound Mission Avenue Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 13, through Friday, October 18, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• One-way traffic control on Childs Avenue Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 13, through Friday, October 18, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• One-way traffic control on Franklin Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 13, through Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full off-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at Le Grand Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 13, through Friday, October 18, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full off-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Le Grand Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 13, through Friday, October 18, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full on-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at State Route 140 East for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 13, through Friday, October 18, 2024, from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
• Full off-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at State Route 140 East for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 13, through Friday, October 18, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full off-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at G Street Under-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 13, through Friday, October 18, 2024, from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
• Full on-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at G Street Under-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 13, through Friday, October 18, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full on-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at G Street Under-Crossing for landscaping work on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Full off-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Childs Avenue Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 13, through Friday, October 18, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full on-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at R Street Under-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 13, through Monday, October 14, 2024, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full on-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Winton Parkway Over-Crossing for landscaping work on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

State Route 140

• Long-term one-way traffic control at the Los Banos Creek for bridge work beginning Monday, August 5, at 6:00 a.m. through Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 6:00 a.m.
• Long-term full closure from 5th Street to Fifth Avenue in Gustine for construction work beginning Monday, April 22, at 6:00 a.m. through Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 6:00 a.m.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. This work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
